Michel Ballings is an assistant professor in the department of Business Analytics and Statistics in the Haslam College of Business of the University of Tennessee. He holds an undergraduate degree in business administration (marketing), a graduate degree in business economics (strategic management and entrepreneurship), and a PhD in applied economic sciences (machine learning). His research focuses on machine learning for marketing automation. He teaches data mining, deep learning, data engineering and visualization, and customer analytics and was awarded the MSBA Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award in 2014 and 2016. His primary interest is building repeatable, automated data products. He is the Vice President of the INFORMS Social Media Analytics Section and the Nancy & David McKinney Faculty Research Fellow, and was awarded the 2017 Thomas P. Hustad JPIM Best Paper Award.
