Hanes Case Competition

Today, Hemant Ramaswami and Jihoon Lee from Hanes came over to the Haslam College of Business for a case competition. Students had 48 hours to work on a case. They received a dataset with several millions of instances. Students had to find answers in the data to several questions, which they had to present today. Along with the Hanes team, dr. Bowers, dr. Petrie and yours truly were the judges. Here you see the first team of the day: Jonathan Bockman, Ian Safie, and Ryan Blanchette.

After all the presentations, Dr. Bowers, Hemant Ramaswami and Jihoon Lee announced the winners. Because the competition was so strong, the first place was shared by two teams.

Here you see the winning teams of the case competition followed by two group pictures. Hanes was very kind to provide gift certificates for the students' hard work.

After the awards ceremony we had a luncheon at Calhouns on the River. All MSBA students were invited. Here you see dr. Noon, our department head, addressing the teams and thanking Hanes for sponsoring this competition.

After lunch students enjoyed the sun on the deck with a beautiful view of the river, before going on a tour in Neyland Stadium.

Thank you Hemant and Jihoon from Hanes for sponsoring this case competition. Our students loved the challenge and learned a lot in the process. We hope to do this again next year.
