Visit dr. Dominique Hanssens

Dr. Dominique Hanssens (also see here) paid us a visit from UCLA Anderson on February 18-20, 2016, to talk about his research and meet our faculty and students. In addition to an impressive track record of publications in top journals, and service to the field (among the many highlights: from 2005 to 2007 he served as Executive Director of the Marketing Science Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts), dr. Hanssens has also authored several books. I can really recommend the second edition of Empirical Generalizations about Marketing Impact (for a video, click here) . We started off with dinner on Thursday at Calhouns on the river , a local restaurant with, dr. Russell Zaretzki , dr. Robert Mee , dr. Paolo Letizia . See below to get a sense of the atmosphere at Calhouns:

On Friday, I showed dr. Hanssens the College and our library, before talking about research over coffee in the The Golden Roast , my favorite coffee shop. Then it was time to meet dr. Zaretzki at the Sunspot for lunch. After another meeting in the afternoon, it was time for his talk entitled Performance Growth and Opportunistic Marketing Spending. The talk was very well attended and there were some great discussions afterwards. Here are some visual impressions:

After some more meetings, we had an excellent and interesting dinner with dr. Bharadwaj, from the marketing department, at Café 4 at Market Square . Here you see a picture of (from left to right) dr. Hanssens, yours truly and dr. Bharadwaj, after dinner. A big thank you goes to our staff, Ms. Hannah Free, and Ms. Janice Wade for making all the arrangements. Thank you dr. Hanssens for coming all the way from LA to see us, we hope to see you soon.
